Our Apiary

The summer of 2011 was an exciting year for the Association as we set up our first apiary, which was officially opened with a nucleus hiving ceremony on a glorious Saturday afternoon in July.
Located on private land 5 or 6 miles outside Lampeter, the apiary currently consists of five colonies, each on National frames, in a mix of National and WBC hives. The apiary offers an ideal training resource for new and existing members alike, allowing them to gain practical beekeeping experience as part of the Beginners' Course we offer, or as a means of brushing up on areas they may not be so familiar with, such as swarm control or applying different colony treatments.

During the spring-summer season (usually starting in early April as soon as the weather is warm enough), our Apiary Managers attend the apiary every Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m.

Although our apiary is a valuable training asset, don't forget that it is available to ALL our members and everyone is welcome to attend every Sunday afternoon throughout the active season, so please come along.

If you wish to visit the apiary on any other occasion or need details of its location in order to attend one of the Sunday sessions, please Contact Us through the Contact Pages of this site.

We will keep you up to date with the latest news from the apiary in our Newsletter, but the very best way is to come along and get involved.
